SAJE

“Did you get the stuff I emailed you?”

“Hold up real quick,” Bishop choked out. I could tell he was smoking because every few minutes I would hear him blowing out smoke. “I’m ‘bout to pull it up now.”

“Bishop,” I snapped. “I sent it over last week.”

“My bad, Saje. A nigga been caught up.”

When Bishop gave me his card and told me to plan our next vacation, I jumped right on it when I made it back to Miami. Six weeks was a long time to be away from my gallery but with as hard as I had been working on it, I needed this vacation. When I had this grand idea I didn’t take into account the time and money it would take to see it come to fruition.

Even with the hours that I had spent we were nowhere near opening day. I hadn’t shared this with Bishop yet, but after I realized I couldn’t do it alone I unofficially hired Boris to be one of the curators. I say unofficially because he wasn’t on payroll or anything. He pretty much donated his time to helping me out. Thank God our split wasn’t messy, I probably wouldn’t be able to do this without him.

In the beginning he expressed wanting to give our relationship another try but I was dead set on dating myself. I didn’t want to get into a relationship until I had healed and moved past the things that had hurt me. I told him before we did anything we needed to work on being better friends. I missed spending time with him as a friend, like I told Bless a relationship let alone a marriage wouldn’t worked between the two of us. I needed a man with some type of assertiveness, dominance even. Hell even with me and Bishop just being friends I knew how far to push him and when to backed down. Don’t get me wrong I pushed him to the max as much as I could, but I knew when enough was enough.

“Okay so I see you got us starting at the bottom first,” he voiced after finally pulling up the email.

“Yeah. So that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. I figured it would be easier to just fly to St. Vincent and take the ferry to St. Lucia when it’s time. From there of course we would either have to fly to St. Kitts or St. John, we can figure out which one we want to hit first. If the distance isn’t far then we will ferry it out each time.”

“I’m really following your lead. It don’t matter to me either way.”

“It’s expensive, Bishop. I’m trying to plan it all on my own but I think I need a travel agent.”

“You can hit up my ma or Auntie Suny. They done planned enough trips,” he let me know.

“Telling either of them is equivalent to us inviting the entire clan. One of them will run their mouth. I would’ve asked my mom but she swears she so busy,” I griped.
